Thursday: musings

I got donuts today as a welcome back present at work.

I need to cut my hair soon. It reached the snarly phase.

Hot showers are so nice for warming up.

My steel-toed shoes fit. Which is good since I got them a while back (November/December) and it might be too late to return them.

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Well, not much happened today.

So I took a picture of Ben and I because I have a lack of photos.

Then Flurry came in the room, so we took a family picture.

Tuesday: Wrenches

Today's highlight was dropping big wrenches from eight feet high to see if they would make a dent on stuff. Most of the time they did. But they also made really loud noises. All in all, it was a lot of fun.

It was apparently very icy today too (i.e., tons of accidents). However, I had an early meeting so we missed the ice by about 30 minutes. Thank goodness for early meetings? :-/

Monday: Semi-new job

Well, I'm back at the job that I started out at. Today was pretty good, although a little slow in places, but I got some stuff done that made me feel productive. And my computer was there when I got in. :)

However, I had forgotten my ethernet cable. I called the help desk for one, they took my info. After doing everything else that I could I stole an ethernet cable from someone in a meeting. Five minutes later I get an e-mail saying my AA had an extra. ... Good thing I grabbed the cord. :s

Rockband has been fun, but I clench my lips while playing. They tend to hurt afterwards.

Sunday Sunday

Ah, there's a queue again. It says 21 minutes. I'm not typing for 21 minutes. I'll probably do some of the things I've been putting off for a while.

Anyway...we went to church, had hot dogs made by the youth group to support a trip (actually, they also had baked potatoes and chili and cheese for the hot dogs). The food was good and we got to talk a little more with people that are going to our Bible study, so that was nice.

Did the normal stuff at home :) But I didn't take a nap. I'm afraid on Sundays that I'll take too long of a nap and then not be able to get to sleep. And I don't really like alarms. So...no nap today. Maybe next week.

Saturday: relaxing

Well, today was pretty relaxing. I finished the hard puzzle, played WoW, played rockband, slept, did chores. Almost all the normal chores are done, so I'm hoping to do some of the single time chores (like washing walls) tomorrow.

Here is Ben playing the drums. He let me play most of the time though. :)

The picture of Ben smiling while I took it didn't turn out. So I had to edit it a bit. I only have Paint though. Oh, and he's wearing a Superman cape.

Thursday: donuts!!!!

I brought donuts in to work today. I love donuts. They're the yummiest. And then not everyone ate one so I get one tomorrow too!!! I'm pumped.

We also had a good dinner (I had marinated some chicken).

Then I had spice tea.

My nose hurts.

Wednesday: Watches II

My analog watch also doesn't have the date on it.

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

Tuesday: Watches

Well, my old digital watch was dying. (You could only see the time if you looked at it from a specific angle.) Since it wasn't very professional and I had another one in the drawer, I decided it was time to change.

The problem? It takes too long to figure out what time it is now. Seriously. Maybe it's just one of my quirks that I can't look and instantly figure out what time it is.

So now...stay professional or go easy to read? Do they have professional digital watches? Do I want to pay what I'm afraid they are? Stay tuned as I slowly solve this connumdrum. Or however you spell it.

Sunday: Church take II

Church was nice today, in part because people from the small group we went to on Tuesday recognized and said hi to us.

Nothing else very interesting happened today. We still have chores to do, so that's a bummer.

Oh, I did finally get the rugs situated to my liking. I did end up switching them like I mentioned earlier. I think I like this way even more than the initial way.

I'm flying on a bird in WoW. So I guess you get a few more ramblings.

I'm feeling a bit stressed, but am not really sure why.

The puzzle I started is really hard. Well, I'm actually just continuing it from a while ago when I had to put it away so that we could use the table. Most of the pieces I have left should be able to fit in right now, but I have a really hard time finding their location. I've thought about doing it by shape alone because it has a lot of interesting shapes, but haven't quite committed to that yet.

The PS3 keeps freezing up. It's broken. :(

We had enough chex left over for three batches of chex mix, which is exciting because I thought we only had enough for 1-2. 'Chex mix' is cool because it has two x's in it.

Saturday: Puzzles and slippers.

Ben and I finished the puzzle I got for Christmas:

I got my Christmas slippers today (we had to send one pair back because they were too small. The sizing isn't quite right on them.)

They even have little tails:

Thursday: Apparently, I'm a pregnant small business owner

Ah. It feels like a good night to write. I'm also in the raid (which is just starting) so we'll see how much I actually write.

1) Tuesday Ben was asked by the house builder how far along I was. This happened because when we were looking at the house we were talking about babies and having the master bedroom on the first floor. Needless to say, I'm not pregnant.

2) Ever since moving to this house I've gotten various pieces of mail about stuff that I would need were I a small business owner. And then today I got a call about it. I'm unsure as to how this rumor started, but also don't know how to stop it.

3) In NY, whenever we see a car on the side of the highway. I've noticed there is something sticking out of it's window (a T-shirt, bag, etc.). I found out today that it means the car is disabled. It doesn't make a ton of since to me though, as the car is on the side of the road on a highway. I mean, why else would you stop in the middle of nowhere except that your car stopped working?

4) I was going to buy another rug from crate and barrel to match one we got for Christmas. But it already disappeared from the website. So now I need to rethink my rug strategy. I had put rug 2 by the front door, but kind of wanted something longer there. So maybe I'll put the other rug in the bathroom, and get some more of those, and put the one that is in the bathroom by the front door. We'll see what happens.

5) It snowed today. :)

6) We've been playing a bit less WoW lately...its been kind of nice. I'm working on a puzzle and getting a few more chores done during the week (i.e., keeping up with the chores, like keeping the kitchen clean). We might end up playing more again later, but for now its nice.

7) My Christmas present from Ben finally made it here a few days ago. They were the cutest microwavable polar bear slippers. Unfortunately, they were too small, even though the size was right. I got them sent back today.

8) Three bosses down. The third was pretty easy. I'm starting to fall asleep though. :(

9) I don't feel like typing anymore. Good night.

Wednesday: PS3

Well, the PS3 came today. It also came with the wrong version of Rock Band which was disappointing. However, the cables unexpectedly came too, so that was nice. We ended up renting a movie (the Netflix timing was a little messed up) to watch and it looked really nice.

Tuesday: Waiting in the queue

The dumb warcraft queue has started again. You have 187 people that need to get on before I stop writing. This will equal about six minutes of typing. Oh, seven. Why is it going up?!

1. Today work was pretty good. I feel incredibly inadequate because I'm only working about 4 hours/week overtime and everyone else is doing 20+. Oh so it feels. But it's probably true. I know it's because I don't have any specific programs to be working on or floor support (just my excel programs), but I feel dumb nevertheless. Anyway, I showed one program that got a good response and almost finished a second. I'll need more work here soon, but I doubt it will be a problem.
2. We went to a Bible Study tonight. The study was good. We played "WoW (as in the Christian music) trivia stuff". The girls made a comeback the first game after getting hard questions while the boys got easy ones. It was funnier.
3. All of our sheets are in the drier. Nope. That's a lie. Only one sheet is in the drier, but all of the bottom sheets got washed this morning so it has to dry before I can go to bed.
4. Well, I'm at less than a minute. You didn't quite get seven minutes worth of writing because Ben and I talked about the work dumbness. Er, actually I vented, Ben co-miserated, and we solved nothing.
5. Also, here is Flurry:

Monday: not much new

1. Work was almost slow today...tomorrow it will pick back up.
2. Discover (the credit card) seems to have a really slow e-mail system.
3. We just killed the first boss in Black Temple.
4. I've throughly enjoyed the last few PhD comics. They really hit the spot (about journal club).
5. I'm ready to get some real desks. I'm sick of repacking boxes every time we need to find something officy.

Sunday: church thoughts

Well, we didn't go to church again this week because Ben had a headache. That really isn't the problem though. The problem is that I didn't want to go to church. We haven't found a church that we love...we realize there were some problems with the Vineyard, but we really liked a lot of stuff about it. The one we are now thinking about is somewhat far away...about 25 min (although soon to be 30 min). I feel like I have so many excuses and none of them really hold any water.

And I can definetly tell a lack of fellowship with other Christians has affected my walk with God...
I'm in the perfect mood for my favorite sad songs. I have several others in the queue this time too, but these are the two I always come back to. It is well with my soul by Audio Adrenaline and "More than Just Enough" by Sara Luneack.

I would like to note that God has been extremely faithful.

Saturday: Flamingos and bowling

Well Friday night Dusty was standing around on one leg, which prompted me to act like a flamingo. I didn't have my camera with me, so the next night we took so more of Dusty standing around like a silly normal person and me standing around like a flamingo. Oh, I forgot to mention that everyone thought my arms/wings looked odd.

Bowling: Dusty and Laura, Ben as a Turkey.

Satruday: Heart attack due to door

So, we had previously bought an over-the door towel hook for our bathroom. However, it turns out that those aren't great for the door frame (at least in our case). So we go and get a screw-into the door towel hook.

We check the size of the screws...safe.
We remind ourselves to not drill all the way through the door...check.
I start drilling...thud. Heart attack. We drilled through the door.
We check the door...no holes on the other side.
We stand around in relief for a bit...phew.
We learn something about some doors...they might be hollow.

Wednesday: Hump day

Well, today was fine. I was going to the restroom an outside there was a sign that said "Incident 123587." Since it sounded like someone died or was raped in there I did pause, but then decided I would try my luck anyway. After getting inside, it looked as though one of the toilets just had problems.

I'm thinking about getting this: It's a hand warmer for your mouse and mouse hand.

Tuesday: Misc. stuff

1. Greetings.
2. Yesterday I played City of Heroes. I decided I'm not a fan. It isn't as pretty as Warcraft. It also seemed like a lot of killing and not a other stuff. It seems funny to base a game on how pretty it is, but I find I do it a lot. It must be the feminine side of me.
3. Well, I managed to pull a groin muscle today. While I wish I could say something cool like I did it while exercising, I think I did it while sitting down. I got up at one point and it really hurt.
4. I have a ton of laundry to fold. It wouldn't be so bad if it was the normal amount, but it seems like extra. Especially with extra new clothes and stuff the baskets are heaping. I suppose this isn't something that I should be complaining about though...
5. I'm supposedly bumped from the raid tonight. I sometimes wonder if it's a problem that I'm so happy when bumped. Maybe it's just because we've done this stuff kind-of a lot now.
6. In an effort to not do anything else, I took a bunch of picture of Flurry. This was the cutest.

Sunday: A nice nap

Well, today was a lot like yesterday except we went to church and I took a longer nap.

I kind of want to include a picture since I haven't for a while, but I also don't want to get up. Oh! I'll include an oldie-but-goodie.

This is a much younger Amanda

Saturday

Hmm...well, we did some shopping today with our gift cards from Christmas and got a ton of stuff. It helped that Kohl's had a 50% off "whites" sale. When we got to Target we both decided we were grumpy so we just stopped and went home.

We finally watched the last episode of Hereos, Season 2. It was pretty good.

Sorry for the boring update. We just didn't do much today.

Thursday: Random stuff

Here are some of my favorite pictures from Florida. The rest can be seen here.

Ashlyn and Amanda learning to use a camera:

Allison and the coconut she peeled:
The family on New Year's Eve:

Ben taking a nap (he was a bit sick):

We didn't go to work today due to traveling problems yesterday. We wanted at least a little down-time. So we'll have a one-day work week this week. Almost not worth it, but I figure we need to go back to work at some point.

Flurry was really cuddly last night. She even came and cuddled in my arms for a little bit...something she never does.

Almost all the Christmas decorations are down.

Kohls is having a huge bedroom stuff sale through Saturday that we're going to try to get to...we got a bunch of gift certificates for Christmas for stuff that we couldn't get on the plane.

Early some morning

I hate traveling. Especially when you get home about 10 hours later than expected.

Good news though...
...the car started
...all our luggage came through
...the house was still standing
...Flurry is still alive
...Flurry has a new cousin.

Jan 1: Happy New Year

Happy New Year again! It was rainy. :( We went to see National Treasure. It was fun. I'll be rating it 3 stars on Netflix.

Year End

Well, after I posted the last post I stayed awake for a little bit, but was completely out of it. It was funny. I then took a wonderful nap outside.

In the afternoon we went Go-Karting and Mini-golfing. I think the highlight was passing Larry in the go-karts. I'm not sure if he let me or if I finally edged in, but I decided it doesn't matter.

This evening we had a delicious meal. There was a ball dropping across the way (and a party, but Ben and I didn't stay around for it) and fireworks. The fireworks were super close...they were too bright several times. And there were some that looked like mini-suns before they exploded. Anyway, since it was getting too painful to watch them we walked down a few feet to the fence where they were setting them off and watched that. There were also some palm trees, so that helped with controling the brightness.

Happy 2008!
