Monday: today

Last night I wasn't feeling great, so I went to bed quite a bit early.  This morning I still wasn't feeling great, so I put on the TV, took some ibuprofen, and hopped back into bed for an hour.  My alarm went off and I started issuing instructions (i.e., get dressed/take off your pjs) so that we could get to gymnastics.  We weren't running late by any means, but we did need to keep moving.  When I came out of my room I went to find Joshua and help him.  I started to go in his room but Isaac said, "go away Mom." and I heard things like, "Here's your sleeve."  Isaac managed to get Joshua completely dressed, and in clothes that Joshua refuses to wear for me.  I was so proud of both of them.

Later in the afternoon I was put in jail.  In my bedroom, by myself.  It was terrible.  Although I was soon joined by another cell mate, my jail keeper was rather attentive.  He brought me water, an apple, more water, and some books before telling me it was time for bed.  When it was time to wake up I got some free time outside of my cell then exercise time, and then he read me a book before bed time again.

We went downtown for Tulip Time food, a yearly tradition with Ben's family.  Unfortunately, it was cold.  I think when we left the house it was 48 deg.  And this isn't food you can eat with mittens or gloves.  So we ate but didn't stay around much longer than that as everyone was cold.

Digger movie

Ben and the boys finished the digger a while ago.  It went significantly faster than Ben or I expected as the boys always wanted to work on it.

They periodically took pictures.

Saturday: race day!

We made it to race day.  We haven't been practicing lately because the weather got rainy (and cold).  I'm a wimp I guess.

I ran with Isaac.  We didn't stop, although we slowed down several times for a drink of water.  Isaac did a great job and probably finished in the middle...although it didn't help that the beginning was terrible.  They changed the route, which was great, but started the race in the tightest spot possible.  (Isaac did a better job with large strides when there were people to pass.)

Ben went with Joshua.  They ran for the first part and then walked the second.  Joshua ran at the very end, just passing someone at the end to come in second to last.  Telling him that he got a snack once he finished is what spurred him on.  For not doing much practicing he did a really good job and did the whole thing on his own without being carried.

The tulips are going to be perfect for Tulip Time!

Isaac: 64 months

Isaac turned 64 months!

Puppy: Isaac is still a puppy.  We played fetch a little bit this month.  However, he has started bagauwking like a chicken...a lot.  If you call him a chicken he woofs at you to remind you he's actually a puppy.

School: Things are going well at school, as normal.  We told him that he'd have to go to school five days a week in kindergarten and that threw him a bit.  He asked me about it several times over the next few days.  Did I mention we decided on Eagle Crest as the school?  All the schools that we looked at were good, but this one had the added bonus of being close and being on the way to Ben's work.

Activities: Isaac has done a ton of Legos this past month.  A lot has been putting some sets together, which he can now do all by himself, but some has been the free play in the basement.  He made a cannon ship and a target to knock over the other day, although I'm not sure the cannon was powerful enough to actually knock it over.  Isaac also likes "Switch Surprise" (aka, Mario Kart), doing things outside, running, IPad, and Paw Patrol.

On being a brother: Isaac is incredibly patient with Joshua.  Sure, there are times he gets frustrated with him, but I've been quite proud of how he either lets Joshua take [Joshua's] turn after Isaac always sets something up or plays with Joshua realizing that Joshua is younger.

Thursday: that time of year...

...when I want to strangle Moodle for all it's worth.  Seriously, there has got to be a better way to put due dates in every semester.  I feel like it shouldn't be hard.  Instead, after about 1.25 hours of monotonously changing due dates, I'm 2/3 of the way through.

I was going to post Isaac's monthly report, but just don't feel like it.  It wasn't really a hard day today, but I'm tired.  I should probably go to bed, but getting ready for bed takes work.

Tuesday: baby shower

Some friends are having a baby.  They also play Warcraft with us, so obviously we needed to have a baby shower in the game.

We did it while the most of the guild was on line anyway.

We had a few decorations, including a guild standard that looked like a baby foot (sort of) on light blue and a few balloons.

And they got gifts!  Zach got a bunch of balls thrown at him and they both got some "real gifts."  The things in [ ] are what they got.  They also got some [Medal of Patience] which didn't get linked but I'm sure they'll earn.  Several of the things linked are toys or pets.

It may hold the record for being the shortest baby shower ever at about five minutes, but it was fun.  People got into it and it stayed a surprise, so hooray!

Monday: plans

My schedule is different this week due to exam week, and so the kids and I are at home tomorrow.  And it's going to be cold.

What to do, what to do.  Grocery shopping is an option, but boring.  Although having either things like milk is always nice, grocery shopping might not happen until next Monday if we don't go tomorrow.

I could invite myself over for a playdate.  I don't really want to invite anyone over here because we have Legos in the basement, although the basement could just be off limits.

Hmm.
