Monday: tulips
Not much happened today, so I thought I'd share some of the pictures of tulips that I took last week. Tulips are my favorite flower, and this is a wonderful week because they are all over the place! My favorites tend to be red tulips, but it almost seemed like every time I saw a new color they were almost my favorite. There were some pink ones closer to our house that were very pretty. So in the end I decided that I liked it best when colors were mixed instead of just solid.

Monday: seven
Happy seven weeks!
I keep thinking about what I'm going to make for dinner and it is making me queasy. I've even identified the problem...last week I made a chicken cordon bleu and it was super salty. Somehow I've managed to identify that meal with all dinners and it is a serious problem. Luckily we have enough left overs that I can do something easy like chicken and tots tonight and hopefully that will work.
I also have a sleeping problem. I either sleep a lot (which isn't really a problem) or I have a hard time sleeping (which is a problem). Two nights ago I slept eleven hours and last night I had a hard time getting to sleep and then was awake for an hour or two in the middle of the night. Plumbers also came first thing this morning, so I didn't get to sleep in.
Sunday: seven
Happy Anniversary to us! We've been married seven years. They've been a good seven years.

We skipped church this morning, but because of that Ben made some donuts and brought them too me in bed. I also finally won some Dominion games. Phew. Then we went to Wild Chef for some delicious food with family (we were also celebrating Jamie's birthday!).

Saturday: dominion, movie, and dinner
It was a very nice day...Ben and I spent more time together than normal, which was a nice change. we played several games of Dominion, but I still haven't managed to win any. which is probably fair because I used to win all the time. although Ill admit that the game where Ben won by 60 points was maybe not my favorite.
In the afternoon we saw Tron. It was a good flick. it's fun seeing some of the back stories of the characters before they all get put together in movie later.
finally we had dinner with some of my family at CityVu. We had never been there before but it was good.

Friday: early gift
Ben gave me our anniversary gift tonight so that we could use it all weekend...an expansion to Dominion! I had been thinking that would be a good gift for him, so it ended up being our gift to each other. We've only played it once so far, but it was fun. It's nice to have some new cards.
Thursday: Dutch Dance
This evening we went with family downtown to eat at the junk food vendors. I had a corn dog and part of an elephant ear. I really wanted a fried banana, but didn't see the stall. Oh well, I still had plenty of fried food.
Then we went to see Betsy Dutch Dance. It made me a little sad that I wasn't dancing, but not too sad.

Wednesday: volks parade
It was a beautiful day out today, so I decided to ride by bike down to the parade.
These are random people that I don't know, but the boy is one of the cool water carriers. He's also drenched, because it was hot out and half the fun is getting each other wet.

Here are Allison and Scarlet. You can see that the streets are wet from being washed.

For those of you unfamiliar with tulip time in Holland, the first parade starts with street scrubbing. Basically, anyone from the community that wants to can dress up in their Dutch Costume and clean the street.

Next up were Jamie and the kids. I almost missed them because I thought Jamie had a different costume and I was on the other side of the street. I had to do some running to catch up and cross over.

Next up was Ben's alma mater. I know he played drums, although I'm not sure what he played while marching.Since I saw Ben's alma mater, I thought that I should wait for mine too. I was going to leave after it. However, they ended up being the last band. Oh well, there were some interesting floats and other ...segments?... to make it worth the wait. I took a picture of the drum major in honor of Nathan.
