Today there was a two hour delay due to ice. Joshua wasn't really supposed to go to daycare due to the fever yesterday. I had a 10am meeting.
But...
It all ended up working out really well. Ben slept in a bit to deal with being ill yesterday and was leaving for work right as Isaac needed to leave too. So they went off together. Aunt C said she could play with Joshua for two hours while I worked. My meeting was canceled, so I could work from home. I got a lot of work done in those two hours and was rather happy with how the morning worked out; it could have been so much more annoying.
Isaac 'bought' a show-and-tell pass for school so that he could show pictures of our new cats. He took a few more pictures first.

Tuesday: more sickness
Well, everyone was somewhat sick today. Joshua had a fever, Isaac came home because of a bad stomach, and Ben and I were sick too.
Tuesdays are the worst day for kids to be sick. Joshua came with me to work and stayed in the office. (He took a nap under a desk.) Ben was able to pick up Isaac and might have been rather glad about it since he wasn't feeling good either.
I came home and slept for about two hours. I'm sure it was partly because I was sick, but at the same time last night was really bad for sleeping. Right after I turned off the lights Joshua started coughing a bunch. Then he decided to get up for some reason and came to tell me that I still needed to get him a new sticker book.

Sunday/Monday
The cats made a heart. Horizon is sticking his tongue out about it though.
We finally got a good picture of them together.
Isaac wanted his picture with the cute cats too.
At the last minute Isaac thought it might be 100 days of school today, which means dressing up as an old person. We quickly put his bow tie and suspenders on. It wasn't 100 days today, but oh well. He took them off at school.
Joshua worked on his red mech so hard this weekend. He even put some of the stickers on himself. It's almost done...it just needs some feet and banners. However, the red mech got side tracked when the two dragons, Voltron, and Push the dragon had to find the shark army.

Saturday: talking
Do you know what I really can't handle? Two people talking to me at the same time. Isaac and Joshua have started to do it so much. I cannot concentrate on one of them when the other is talking and I freak out. It's a problem.
In other news, the kids emptied the colored water into the shower, as requested as part of a clean up. Then they needed a phone to take pictures of it.
First they took some of Tornado being cute.
Then of the shower. It does have a rather artistic quality to it.
However, one of the pictures also showed that they had spilled on the floor, so I told them to go clean that up.

Friday: snow day #6
Ah, (hopefully) the last snow day. We treated it pretty much like a normal day.
We went to the church bounce house again. It was up and when I gave the kids the option of going they immediately said yes without even listening to the other options. While I kind of wanted to just stay in the house, my guess is that around 4pm I would have been wishing that I had gotten out of the house. They bounced wonderfully and I had a nice time talking to adults.
Joshua wanted to go outside in the afternoon. It was sunny and so I didn't really want to go out, but he really wanted to. We made a maze in the snow, complete with a hidden path and some angel rooms.

Thursday: Snow day #5 moving into #6
Well, they called it. We have another snow day tomorrow. Apparently the roads are still pretty bad in areas because the salt can't touch them.
Today we did get out of the house though. We went to a church that had some bounce houses. We might go again tomorrow; we'll have to see how the roads are. Then we went to Hope College. Dad brought them to the dining hall for lunch and then they didn't have to wait in the office as long. We also got to karate this afternoon.
The snow days at Hope College that didn't affect me...have now affected me. Since my lab students missed two days of lecture they haven't learned about free body diagrams yet, which is what the next prelab covers. Anyway, I decided the prelab could be more of a postlab and made it due in a week and half. Trying to teach students about FBDs via YouTube videos and/or a brief email did not seem appropriate.

Tuesday: snow day #3 moving into #4
Today was another snow day for Isaac. It was a good call; it wasn't great out. They also canceled school for tomorrow at the same time. That one was expected...it's supposed to feel like -25deg F for most of the day.
While I was teaching at 2:30 Hope College canceled all classes for 3pm and after, including tomorrow. It was a bit odd...suddenly half the students were glancing at their phones and whispering. Well, if all the students got something at the same time it can only mean that, today at least, classes were canceled. Sure enough!
Some students didn't read the notification and so I got to give them the news that classes are canceled tomorrow too. But then I told them that classes weren't canceled until 3pm, so I got to keep them for another 20 minutes (unless that felt as though the needed to leave for safety reasons).
I then sent an email to my on-line lab saying that their lab report is still due tomorrow! However, I did note that if they needed to drive to use a lab computer or walk too far to meet with their partners to let me know and I could grant an extension.
I told Joshua he could have a snow day tomorrow, but he'd have to play by himself and do some cleaning because I still have labs to grade. Luckily he agreed to that contract, because his daycare canceled for tomorrow too...along with what seems like most of Holland.
