Joshua and I spent the weekend at the cottage. While we missed Isaac and Ben, Isaac needed the weekend to recover and wanted to sit with the group at church so Ben stayed home with him. (Upon questioning, Joshua was not sad that Isaac wasn't around during the weekend.)
The weather was beautiful. It got a bit warm in the afternoons, but they turned on the A/C and we went in the water. The kids tubed, played on the sandbar, played with the stones, swung, and did all the normal cottage activities.
We all shot the BB gun. Evelyn also shot the air rifle, but it was almost too big for her.
Dad had received some champaign for his retirement, so we all sang "happy retirement" and toasted to him...as he goes back to work on Tuesday.
The kids wanted to go back out to the sandbar one last time with the foam pads, so somehow the end result was Joshua and JJ paddling the paddle boat with Nathan and the pads in the back. Neither of them could steer the thing (because they don't steer well), but it didn't help that Nathan was making the boat a bit off balance. The foam pads worked really well and the kids had a great time with them but they weren't quite what I was looking for. Part two of the plan is to glue/tie them together and see if a thicker foam pad is more fun.
We also watched some soccer. Evelyn and JJ did the Norway row right after they won.
