The first surprise today was related to the weather. When we were eating breakfast, the view out the back looked like this:
Thirty minutes later, it looked like this:
We got close to an inch over the day, but most of it was within the first hour. It was such a sudden change from the weather that we have been having that it surprised everyone. It was good for sledding though!
The second surprise was one thought of by Isaac. Our practice run worked better, but the way it ended up meant that Isaac got to see the surprise instead of being in his room. (The crying is from Joshua, who had just slipped and face-planted. He was jumping because he was so excited that Ben was home.)
Isaac thought of the surprise all by himself and prepped most of it, while I helped with the actual implementation.
(Oh, I realized it's a bit hard to see. Isaac is pulling a yarn string (which breaks half way through) and dumps purple pieces of paper onto Ben.

Thursday: spring break
I'm on Spring Break!
Classes were surprisingly small today. They tend to be on the small side right before break and so I planned a day that didn't include new material. I think several students picked up on this and therefore just didn't come. Oh well, it was a good day for it I guess.
I gave blood afterwards. I'd like to give more often, but 1) my time without the boys, 2) time I don't have to be getting "real" work done, and 3) times that there is a blood drive rarely overlap.
Joshua was having a hard time getting his pajamas on. I'm not sure why, since it is something that we both wanted to do. I'm trying to have him do more of the taking on and off of clothes, so maybe he just was too tired. My threatened punishment was that I was going to choose his pajamas and would choose the ones he didn't want. It sort of worked.

Wednesday: legos
Isaac is making a laughing snake
Joshua is working on a helicopter. He keeps calling it an airplane and I have no idea what he's talking about. It's slow going, but he's doing a really good job putting the pieces together.

Tuesday: Joshua
I picked up Joshua from his classroom and he bounced over when he saw me. There was such a look of delight...it was nice.
One of the caretakers noticed that he now brings Bear instead of Elephant. I mentioned that Joshua has started asking for Bear instead. Joshua said, "Elephant sad. Elephant sad because Bear happy."
We got to the car. Joshua was very worried about the wind blowing his hat off, so he took it off half way to the car and put it in the trunk. It wasn't that windy. But apparently the thing to do. As I was buckling him in, he said, "Bear not important." I said, "No?" Joshua responded, "Jesus important." I thought about getting into a discussion about Bear could still be important but decided not to.
We got home and I was telling this to Ben. "Why is Elephant sad?" I asked. "Elephant poor." he responded. Hmm...where did he get that from? Later he said, "Bear happy. Poor elephant." so I'm wondering if he just got his words backwards.
He's also been making new things out of Duplos instead of just birthday cakes. Yesterday Ben got a maze and today he made a caterpillar.
Also, happy Pi day.

Sunday: Joshua
Joshua: "Don't think about it!"
He's said this several times. I usually can't tell what I'm not supposed to think about, so I guess it works.

Saturday: paw patrol
I rented a Paw Patrol video from the library this week. The boys have had limited exposure to them, mainly due to the fact the show isn't on Amazon or Netflix.
Isaac is now obsessed.
We went to Target this afternoon and Isaac was looking for Paw Patrol things all over the place. I'm not really surprised at this reaction since even kids that don't think they're dogs love the show. Since we have two dogs in the house it is just that much closer to their hearts.
On another note, it seems as though I should take the boys out more. (Or they will make perfect Target shoppers.) In just about every aisle that we went down there was a loud gasp of excitement and an exclamation of what they saw. "Paint!!" "Popcorn popper!!" "Robot coloring book!" "Potato!" (That was actually a large Easter Egg, but it did look like a very large potato.) It was a little ridiculous.
