Monday: 2 weeks

Joshua is now 2 weeks old!  How time flies. :)

He slept a lot better last night. :)  He still wakes up to eat rather often, but it wasn't too bad.  And he went to sleep well.

I finally got him to somewhat enjoy a pacifier today.  He also isn't a huge fan of the swing unless he's already sleeping rather well.

Isaac was enjoying the fact that they both had camels from Cheryl.  Getting a good picture of that on the other hand was rather hard.

So that Isaac's quilt wouldn't feel left out, we got one of Isaac on his quilt too.

And then with both boys

Yesterday and this morning the fun activity was to play marbles...but using duplos instead of marbles.  I'm going to admit, it works a lot better than it sounds like it should.  There are a lot of "traffic jams", but the pieces slide rather well.

Joshua enjoyed duplo marbles too.  He was a bit more grumpy today, although looking back Isaac had the same thing around this time.  So it could be an age thing.

I was trying to trap Isaac as he ran back and forth today.  So he made me a trap.  But he was nice enough to give me nummies while I was trapped.

Sunday: sleep??

Friday night Joshua slept wonderfully...at least for him.  I got several 2+ hour stretches and after eating he went right back to sleep so easily.

Then there was last night...I think I got a 1 hour stretch once.  Joshua wanted to eat much more often and was fussier.  Often it felt like I'd put him down and he'd be quiet for just long enough for me to get in bed and think he's asleep and then he'd fuss again.  Usually he'd quiet down promptly...I think I only picked him up once.  But then we'd repeat the cycle.

Ben nicely brought both boys to church for me so that I could take a good nap though.

Saturday: first tears

I've been looking through the blog posts from Isaac's first days and it's interesting to see what struck my fancy. One day was Isaac's first tears...so I thought today I'd note Joshua's first tears. I think he was crying because he got some spit up up his nose...so I can't blame him for crying at all!

I also seem to be posting more pictures this time around, which surprises me a bit. It's just that I find pictures of Isaac and Joshua together so cute! I'm not sure that I'm taking more, but our routine is different with this child.

Cutting...with his "cutting board".  This area was clean before Joshua was born...

Joshua's favorite spot.

Learning how to do the wheelbarrow.

Isaac showing Joshua how to lift his head.

In other news, Joshua lost his umbilical cord tonight.  I'm wondering if it caused a bit of grumpiness, or if the grumpiness is just from getting older.

Friday: bossy

Isaac was rather bossy today. Sometimes it was funny, like when we were counting and he didn't want me to include six. Sometimes it was rather annoying, like when I couldn't build small sand castles.

We still don't have a great routine for when I'm feeding Joshua. Sometimes Isaac is fine, and sometimes a bit off the wall. He also seems to be asking to play with Ben and me more than pre-Joshua and it feel like I'm saying no to him a lot...but I still feel as though I'm spending a lot of time with him.

In other news, they wore matching socks today. Isaac is in charge of picking out the socks. (He's also in charge of turning on the birds for the swing...it's the only button he can reach or I expect there'd be music all the time too.)

Thursday:an ok day

Today I didn't have any plans for the day, and that ended up being a not great idea.  It wasnt a bad idea, but it did make the day a little long.

We went for a bike ride.  Every time we go out there's a shorter window before Isaac declares that he's too hot and wants to stop.  Stopping isn't a problem, but only riding for three to five minutes annoys me.

Flurry has found a new place to chill: in the basement, in a car seat.

I like the dark background of our couch .

Wednesday

Joshua didn't sleep all that well last night.  Now, Ben and I weren't getting up and walking around with him, but I was getting out of bed every 30-60 minutes.  Sometimes to just try and put a pacifier in...the act of trying, even if he doesn't take it, seems to calm him down.  But I was still rather tired in the morning.

But we survived!  It was my first day without any extra people around to help.  We went to the fabric store for our outing...it went fine.  It was a fast outing, but we still did it.  We weren't able to leave the house until 10:20 again; it amazes me how long it takes to get everyone ready.

Nap time went a bit better today than it has in the past.  Joshua woke up once, but I was still able to get two small naps in.  Then we had picture time.  Joshua was awake a lot more today; I'm hoping that he'll sleep better tonight.

Isaac took pictures with his camera too.  But he doesn't quite understand the whole concept...especially of being more than two inches away from what you're taking a picture of.

Isaac also took pictures of all his "E-Ooos"

Isaac and Joshua attempted to play together...but Joshua can't hold anything yet, so it makes it rather difficult.

Isaac is a bit better at taking pictures with my camera.

Zonked out during dinner.

Playing in the sand. I had also given him a haircut since the above pictures.  We're having professional pictures taken next week and I wanted a bit of time to see if there were any places I needed to fix up.  It still isn't perfect, but if I muss his hair up just a bit it will be hard to see the problem areas.

"Cheese!"  It's a bit funny because when Ben and I tried taking his picture with his camera in the morning he would cover his face and say "no cheese me!"  (To cheese equals to take a picture of in Isaac speak.) But he's fine with having his picture taken by my camera.

Tuesday: playground

Today was the first time i've taken both boys out by myself.  We were meeting friends at the playground at 10:45...this sounded a bit late to me, but that was fine.

It was a good thing it was that late.  By the time everyone was fed, dressed, a small lunch was packed, and we were ready to leave it was time to leave.  I'm not really sure where the time went.

We stayed at the playground for quite a while, but Betsy and I had a nice time talking and the boys got a lot of running done.  Well, the older boys.  Joshua had a good nap.

Overall, the outing was a big success!
And one more picture of the boys after dinner.
